The Department of Obstetrics at Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang Hospital follows the principles of international standards and evidence-based medicine, providing integrated care from pregnancy registration and prenatal care through labor and delivery to postpartum recovery. The obstetrics unit occupies Floors 11–12 of Tower B, bringing together antepartum and postpartum wards, family-centered birthing rooms and obstetric operating rooms. The midwives come from The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital and other hospitals.
Located on a dedicated floor, Floor 12 of Tower B, the unit has 3 family suites, 13 single rooms and 2 family-centered birthing rooms. Patients may request an obstetrician at the level of associate chief physician or above, and a senior midwife serves as case manager, providing continuous follow-up from pregnancy through the postpartum period. Three meals a day are included during the hospital stay, along with a maternity kit for mother and baby, complimentary reserved parking and a 42-day postpartum check-up.
Prenatal care covers weeks 6 to 40 of pregnancy. Each visit includes a physician consultation and midwife case management, and nutrition clinic visits, psychological screening, an anesthesia clinic consultation, birth planning and a birth rehearsal are scheduled at the appropriate gestational weeks.
Labor analgesia is available 24/7, with an individualized plan developed after assessment by the anesthesia team. A midwife provides one-on-one doula support, offering non-pharmacological pain relief and psychological support. Integrated family-centered birthing rooms (LDR/LDRP) combine labor, delivery and postpartum recovery in one room, and family members may stay throughout. Companionship during cesarean delivery is available only at the International Medical Center: after assessment, the patient's husband may accompany her in the operating room.
Floor 11 of Tower B has 2 dedicated obstetric operating rooms, so an emergency cesarean delivery can be performed on the same floor, where the Department of Neonatology is also located. The birthing rooms are connected to a 24-hour central fetal monitoring system and equipped with imported neonatal radiant warmers and neonatal transport incubators.
Internationally certified lactation consultants provide breastfeeding guidance. Services also include care to support uterine involution, pelvic floor rehabilitation, diastasis recti rehabilitation and postpartum follow-up after discharge.
Packages are available for prenatal care, vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery, as well as combined prenatal care and delivery packages. Please contact the International Medical Center for details.
